I am packing bags getting ready for our family camping adventure (stay tuned I’ll be blogging about it on Monday), but had to post a quick photo from the amazing family photo shoot I did earlier today. Six year old Sidney is so beautiful and is a natural infront of the camera. I love this photo and just had to share it!
More photos from this family shoot coming soon…

I’m so happy with my new album company (Leather Craftsmen). Last week my new sample album was delivered and I just couldn’t rip the box open fast enough, so I asked for help from my three year old daughter, who was actually more interested in the bubble wrap than the actual album, but at least she helped me rip all the tape off the cardboard box. The albums I will be offering are available as 8×8, 10×10 or 11×14 size options in either black or brown genuine leather. Every album will be personalized on the cover with an inset photo as well as the couple’s first names. And each album being shipped out will be personally examined by myself and will be stamped with my approval (the inside cover page has my logo stamped on it). Below are a few pictures that show what the album cover looks like, the super thick pages and a few different page layouts.

The very next day another box was delivered and it was my new business cards. Exciting times around here!!!

It was a beautiful day at the Derrick Golf and Winter Club; special day that Jacki and Tom has been planning for quite some time; it was their wedding day and I felt honoured to be a part of it. You may recognize Jacki and Tom from their engagement session I posted not too long ago; it’s the same location, but they are dressed just a bit more formal. Their wedding was so elegant and everything went off wonderfully, the rain even stayed away so we were able to take outdoor photos, which was my dream at such a beautiful golf course. Congrats you two!

I love it when I meet with a couple at our consultation meeting and we just “click” – well, that’s how it was with Rachelle and Huan. We laughed, sipped on coffee and discussed exciting photo locations for their wedding day. I even joked that I should hire them for help suggesting locations for future photo shoots I have; they had such great ideas. Rachelle and Huan’s August 2010 wedding is taking place here in Edmonton, Alberta, but we decided their engagement photo shoot should take place in their home town; Calgary, Alberta.
So, a few weeks ago, my family and I went on a road trip (if you recall my twitter posts). My husband, two daughters and I ended up leaving Edmonton at about midnight and checked in to the hotel at 4am Saturday morning…but the lack of sleep didn’t slow me down at our photo shoot! Maybe it was the excitement of shooting in a new city or maybe it was the extra-large dark roast coffee I ordered from the Starbucks that was conveniently located in the Westin Hotel lobby; either way I was awake and I was excited to meet up with Rachelle and Huan.
The sun was shining, my coffee was delicious and my brain was in excitement-overload as Rachelle and Huan drove me around to a few of the locations they had narrowed down for our photo shoot. It was a great day and I’m sure their wedding day will be even better!
I have so many favorite photos, I just couldn’t decide which ones to feature, so I’ve posted a ton in this blog post.

I’ve known Carmen and Justin for years and I’ve had the privilege of watching Ethan grow; but that still doesn’t prepare me for how quickly it happens and how much he changes inbetween our visits. This photo shoot was by far one of the highlights of my summer. He has the cutest clothes ever and is such a sweet heart. It was so great to see you guys again.
Here are a few of my favorites from our session together.

Really???? Edmonton Family Photographer, Sweet Life Photography – YES, it’s true, I am photographing families again. For the past 4 years I had been doing it all (weddings, families, maternity, newborn, graduations, family reunions, you name it) – then last Fall I took a break from everything (except weddings) because business got insanely busy, which should be a good thing – except that I was pregnant and super sick and then shortly after had a newborn….but now I’m back in the groove and will be taking on a few family photo shoots in the future.
So, in summary, yes Sweet Life Photography is an Edmonton Wedding Photographer and an Edmonton Family Photographer. Family photography is definitely more flexible and can be shot year – round (compared to wedding photography). So, if you are looking for a family photo session or if you are looking for maternity/newborn photos give me a shout and lets schedule a shoot. I have so many wonderful family photo shoots to blog about, so check back.
I look forward to hearing from you…and in the meantime I’ll leave you with a photo of the two most important people in my life; my daughters Kamaya and Sedona.

Sean, my husband, was meeting up with a few University of Alberta classmates at a local coffee shop, earlier that day he had noticed his notebook was running low on paper so he quickly grabbed a stack of my business letterhead on the way out the door. As the discussions continued Sean’s notebook became full so he pulled out my letterhead and began using it for his notes, little did he know one of his classmates noticed the letterhead and scribbled my business name down. A few days later I was contacted by that classmate’s sister requesting a family photo shoot. It’s amazing how things all came together, but I was so happy when I got to meet and photograph Mason and his beautiful blue eyes. Here are a few of my favorites from our session together Lisa, Wes and Mason.

A couple weeks ago my family and I traveled to Calgary for an engagement photo shoot I had scheduled with one of my 2010 wedding couples. It was a fantastic photo shoot (watch for their blog post in the next day or two), and after I returned to the hotel my husband, Sean, and I decided to make our way to the Calgary Zoo with our two girls. (Thanks again Rachelle and Huan for the coupons). I must say the Calgary Zoo is fantastic; however, I wish we had made more time to enjoy it, unfortunately by the time we got there we only had about 90 minutes before it closed, but we did still manage to get to quite a few exhibits. The sun was shining, the zoo was packed with other families, and both my husband and I were exhausted from the insane drive we had done the night before (I won’t dwell on details, but let’s just say checking in to a hotel at 4am is a whole new experience for me)….but even with all these factors we wanted to take our daughters out for a nice afternoon…we were determined!
The girls did have a great afternoon; Sedona slept almost the whole time and Kamaya was more interested in this playground than any animal that was there (aahh, it’s so crazy the things parents will do for their kids).
Sean and I were so tired by the time we returned to the hotel. And as we struggled with the elevator card key, we just looked at eachother and smiled…..we both knew we were getting room service for supper!
Here is a snapshot of our adventures at the Calgary Zoo.

Another quick “1440″ post for you. It’s officially summer time, which means it’s time for family picnics in the backyard. I asked my 3 year old to help me pack our lunch bag and I laughed so hard when I unzipped the lid and saw what was inside. Just had to share this with you.
The lunch kit contents were:
- Hot Chocolate Mix
- Two tiny tea cups with saucers
- A can of soup
- A can of Fresca soda
- Salt & Pepper shakers
Apparently we are going to use the garden hose water to make our hot chocolate (which would be cold but could potentially be warmed by the sun), and while we wait for our cold chocolate to warm up we will sip on the Fresca soda. We will use a tool from the garage to open up the can of soup and since we didn’t pack bowls to serve our soup, we will sip it out of the can, but before we do we definitely will need to add salt and pepper.
Wow, how intersting.
Just so you know, we actually ended up eating the hamburgers my husband had already started on the bbq (thank goodness).
It was such a sweet moment I had to pull out my camera. My daughter is really into making recipes right now. She helps herself to the bowls, measuring cups, and anything she can reach in the pantry. She has a great imagination and mixes up the oddest things, and then stores them in our fridge. Yesterday I opened the fridge and found 5 little bowls full of ripped up pieces of bread with honey and strawberry milk mixed in. I don’t remember having this much freedom in my mom’s kitchen when I was 3 years old….my husband and I were talking and decided either we are the really cool easy-going parents or we are just really crazy for creating more work for ourselves with all the clean up afterwards…..
Oh well, I think it’s great for her imagination and maybe it will turn her in to a great chef one day and then she can do all the cooking for us.
Bon Appetit!

The smile, the funky orange diaper cover and that red tie…Toblin is adorable and I smile every time I look at these photos. Babies grow so fast (I know) and I am so happy when families decide to book me for photo sessions because I know they will look back at these photos days, months and years to come. Erin and Adam, here are a few of my favorite photos of your son. Keep in touch – it was so great to meet you!
